History of Mt. Traveler Baptist Church Choirs
According to the church records, Sister Robbie Trimble compiled the history of the Mt. Traveler
Missionary Baptist Church choirs on October 19, 1985.

Brother Dock Davis organized the Senior Choir in 1915.  The young people and adults would come
together and sing notes using tuning forks to pitch their songs.  Brother Davis led the choir for
approximately 20 years.  Sister Virginia Scott, Brother Joe Echols, Deacon Willis Wade Lockhart,
Sister Lula Gullatte, and Sister Lizzie Bickerstaff served as presidents of the Senior Choir.

In 1928, the first piano was purchased under the pastorate of Rev. M. Nunn.  The first pianist was
Sister Lugenia Ware.  Other pianists were Deacon Casby Jones Sr., Sister Susie Hicks, Brother
Conway Caldwell, Deacon Clarence Lockhart, Sister Lucille Maxwell, Sister Ruby Crenshaw, Sister
Inez Doctrie, Sister Ruth McMillian, Sister Doris Burton, Sister Patricia Hicks, Sister Charlotte
Trimble, sister Stephanie Combs Askew, Sister LaShaun Trimble, Sister Lisa Heard and sister
Barbara Allen.
